I'm working on a photoplethysmography(PPG signal) related project.

This type of optoelectronic signal is susceptible to noise caused by various types of perturbations, such as changes in light intensity or the motion artifacts caused by rapid motion.

Unfortunately, most of the photoplethysmography datasets on the market have been acquired in a very smooth state. Often the tester is asked to lie flat or still and the physical elements of the monitoring environment are kept unaltered.

Our team would like to enhance the generalization ability of statistical model by synthesizing noise, but we are not clear about the parameters that should be taken into account for synthesizing noise and the synthesis method, should we considering about the signal-to-noise ratio?

We are looking forward to your expertise to help us think through this issue.
