In the said website soft copies of theses are made available by the Indian Universities. What can be the impact on the Ph D candidates if the theses are made available in the internet within 2-3 years after award?
Is there any safe guard provided by the Universities so that others cannot use data from these theses?
The PhD Thesis that were made public, most likely were examined and approved by the Research Committee. Making the accessible to others may contribute to better scientific knowledge dissemination far beyond the academic institution issuing the PhD degree.
Thank you Eduard. I agree with you but there is a problem. If a thesis is quickly scanned and uploaded in the web soon after the Ph D award it is likely the that many a new findings (which are yet to be published) becomes exposed and can be published by others too. In my opinion the concerned university should give some kind of safe guard to the scholars.
Totally agree with Eduard, safe guard may be set as associated with the period of time required for accepting or publishing papers of the Ph.D. results. Publishing papers of the Ph.D. work results is generally requested by most institutions.

That is a good decision. And I don't think anything related to safeguard issues of student data on Internet. Because when the thesis is post after 2 to 3 years of PhD award. Then I think all the data and results will be already published in journals.
So I can not find anything wrong related to this news by Indian universities. But I can see a positive think of more dispersion of knowledge and expansion of ideas in the research community.
Theses come under grey literature. In the past it was very difficult to go through a particular thesis unless you visit the institution who keeps the thesis or the individual who made it. Indian theses are made available online through the following websites.

Most universities in India put an embargo of one/two years to host the theses online. By this time, most papers from the thesis would be published. Moreover, UGC has made plagiarism punishable as notified in their notification. Click the link.
