Recently, I have seen the effects of modern maths. In its penchant to be practical, it focuses more on methods. The consequence of this is that even math students are at a loss when they are required to prove theorems. They also do not know why a method works. When asked to prove they go through a litany of verbal descriptions and much appeal to intuition. Something tells me such proof style leaves much room to be desired, so I want to know what you would consider as a proof.
