I am using Mendeley citation management tool for my paper work.
I want to customize IEEE citations style according to the requirement of the journal (Microwave and Optical Technology Letters).
But when I am going to save the style after adjustment I get the message “Error saving the style: undefined message”.
Please help me to solve this issue.

I had the same problem (my university asked for an APA Numbered with brackets) but now it's solved.I realized that such message is displayed when some changes are too drastic and it becomes like an invalid style.
In my case, clicking in 'disable' for the year caused that message to appear, but then when I just clicked in the minus (-) button to get rid of the year it finally allowed me to save the style.
Change things gradually and after every move try to save, if the message isn't displayed just click cancel and go on with the changes.

Mendeley uses the Citation Style Language v1.0 to format citations and bibliographies in our Word and OpenOffice plugins. Although we provide styles for 1000+ journals, we realize this isn’t enough for everyone. If you need to customize a citation style and are not scared of editing a little XML (it’s actually not that difficult) .

I beg to differ. I find the instructions for using the Visual Editor in Mendeley to be very hard to understand. I am not a programmer, but did write my own website in Html back in the day. There are no clear directions on how to edit fields. For example, I need to change names from Doe, John to John Doe for this particular journal. The directions found on

are all in one paragraph in cs:Rendering Element Names
and the directions are unclear as to what is referring to what.
I can't even find how to change the in text citation from a name to a superscript number with an end parenthesi because the directions for the fundamental style that I am editing, Chicago... (note), does not even show numbers.
I really wish that there were a simple guide for people who do not program. At least separating sentences from one paragraph into relevant sections would simplify the situation.
