In today's world, alternative fuels are needed more than ever. Therefore, these processes of extraction are the focus because it is not primarily used as food, can grow quickly, and does not require much area to grow. So what is the suitable process to extract oil from plant?
Down the street from me, they extract corn oil with hexanes. They distill the hexanes for recycling.
There are probably other ways to do this.
There are many ways depends upon the application of bio oil that you are going to produce. 1. by pyrolysis the treatment of biomass at higher temperature in furnace and cooling of the volatiles coming out by using condenser at the outlet of the furnace you can get bio oil and can be used for lubrication and other purposes as quality is little poor. But this process is effective and many are working on this technique.
2. By extraction, like treatment of size reduced biomass with hexane, chloroform and many other solvents using soxhlet apparatus. Beauty of the process is these solvents can be reused.
3. There are many mechanical ways also like mechanical pressing etc.
Production of alternative fuel in large quantity is more important at present. In my point of view, extraction process is suitable for extracting pure bio oil from oil seeds.
