When the glass is broken down (damage on surface ) by an intense ns laser pulse, the plasma will be launched simultaneously. However, this fast expanding plasma will induce a back pressure in the bulk of glass, i.e., a shock wave that is not the original thermoelastic wave in the bulk of glass. So, what is the source of this back pressure wave?
