It is a very interesting approach to compare the mineral and phosphatase. In fact, this paper and the other, "Adsorption of trimethyl phosphate and triethyl phosphate on dry and water pre-covered hematite, maghemite, and goethite nanoparticles" both indicated that there are some similarities of mineral surface and enzyme activity centers. Has anyone tried to link the phosphatase and nano-Fe surface? I have also find very interesting stuff about the hydrolysis of phosphate ester in the aged iron solution. In fact, I could not get the evidence that the aged iron solution has some nanoparticles as the active center.
