In the process of agricultural production and animal husbandry development, weeds, especially weeds that cannot be grazed by animals, have stronger competitiveness than crops or herbage due to their growth characteristics and environmental conditions, which inhibit the growth of crops and herbage and bring great losses to the interests of farmers and herdsmen.However, as global climate change intensifies, the progress of carbon emission control is slow with little effect. Then, are weeds, as "useless plants", able to mitigate global carbon emissions and have their potential been explored?Is it worth studying?
@ Li Zihao.. Every plants on this earth have capabilities to fix CO2 in to assimilates through photosynthesis and it have been sequestered in to soil and acted as soil organic carbon (SOC). When it correlated with nonedible weed, yes it has great potential to convert CO2 in to assimilates and reduce concentration of it. Even, most of the weeds belonging to C4 type photosynthesis and it required lesser concentration of CO2 for existence while C3 weeds needed elevated concentration to continuing their life. These weeds can be used for carbon sequestration that will have positive effects on climate Change.
That's right, the weed have a role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions
