Red fluorescence in the picture may be due to the auto fluorescence of the chlorophyll. I am wondering why this dianoflogellates shows the green florescence in blue emission. What is the reason for this ?
have you seen this article - Green Autofluorescence in Dinoflagellates, Diatoms, and Other Microalgae and Its Implications for Vital Staining and Morphological Studies? I hope it answers your question.
It has been my experience that using blue emission fluorescence phototrophic dinoflagellates will fluoresce red and that heterotrophic dinoflagellates will fluoresce green. However, I believe the mechanism or chemical compound that causes the green fluorescence is unknown.
