cooperative wireless communications is the cooperation of of more than wireless link to service one or more users at the overlapp regions of these links and thereby enhancing the bit rates delivered to such boundary users.
For example two or three base stations can serve simultaneous on user in the overlap area the cells. If all cooperative links send the same data then, the system will be build some form of transmit antenna diversity. If the cooperating links transmit different data, it forms a space diversity of multicell MIMO.
The paper brought by Zeyad reviews the different configurations of the cooperative wireless links. But one put in mind that control on the wireless links gets more complicated to set up the cooperation sessions.
