I would like to add to that question. What is the form of interaction between Two nanoparticles (separated by few Angstrom) under the influence of external dc electric field? Assuming those nanoparticles are semiconducting (spinel oxide). I am particularly interested in interaction at interface.

Do you mean dimeric nanoparticles??

Electromagnetic fields are strongly perturbed in the near field of dielectric nanospheres and that certainly creates a pseudo- interaction between two close enough particles.

The joined reference does not answer your question but gives an opening the problem of dielectric nanospheres bathed in an EM field.

I read your article but noticed it is about micron-sized particles not nano-sized:

I reread the question and actually do not understand what practical example it describes.

What kind of potentail are you asking for? What si the distance and how concentrated is the solution then. And when there is an attractive potential the particles will contact and agglomerate almost instantaneously?

In the case of cavitation implosion in a charged plasma the cross section of a nano particle at 4 nanometeres holds higher potential than larger particle in collapse. Hydrogen fusion in a water plasma demonstrates this fact.

Very nice of you to call the MIT study to the attention. It seems to be a study on the fesibilty but not on any actual measurements (yet).

Also, the questioneer here does not specify his question on the medium, or absence of medium for the particles. Also he does not reply to the comments.

Here, I am making the problem more specific.

The particles are kept in a viscous medium (such that the movement of the particles is not hindered at all) e.g water. The maximum distance between two (nano)particles may be of the order of 10 ^ -7 (less than a micrometer) and which also defines the concentration of the solution of the particles and the medium (say,water). Now, consider only one particle which is not localized (i.e it is free to move in the entire medium) and I want to localize its motion by using em field. Here is the problem that its motion is also governed by the presence of the other particles in its neighborhood but HOW ?

The original problem:

"What kind of potential does a nano scale particle see due to the presence of others? How does it modify when the particles are kept in a bath of EM radiation like laser radiation?"
