What kind of potential does a nano scale particle see due to the presence of others? How does it modify when the particles are kept in a bath of EM radiation like laser radiation?

The particles are kept in a viscous medium (such that the movement of the particles is not hindered at all) e.g water. The maximum distance between two (nano)particles may be of the order of 10 ^ -7 (less than a micrometer) and which also defines the concentration of the solution of the particles and the medium (say,water). Now, consider only one particle which is not localized (i.e it is free to move in the entire medium) and I want to localize its motion by using em field. Here is the problem that its motion is also governed by the presence of the other particles in its neighborhood but HOW ?
