I prepared a sample using a self-developed L-PBF apparatus. The material is resin-coated sand (similar to EOSINT S750 sand) sintered using a CO2 laser in zigzag scan mode. The image uploaded shows the microscopic view of the edge of the specimen. I could see three distinct colors; could anyone help me understand the theory behind these different colors? As per my observations, the white section is the outer contour, the black section is the area to be sintered, and the brown (?) color section is the HAZ of the specimen.
