The findings' section shows what the author found after data analysis. Let's say you are using SPSS to analyse your data, once you analyse the whole data, you need to report your findings by answering the questions or assumptions.

But the conclusion's section is a summary of the whole data, which reminds the readers on the purpose of the study and what you have found.

findings is an interpretation of practical analysis, While Conclusion as says Dr. Serrat, synthesizes and interprets the finding and makes a reasoned judgment that corresponds to the finding.

Example of a finding: George's mouth opened slightly showing his teeth with the lateral edges of the lips turned up.

Conclusion: George's smile seemed to indicate that he was happy.

In the findings section ( results) one reports what the analysis revealed, only the factual matter of the results, not their meaning. While conclusions are logical deductions based on the data in the findings section.

For me, findings are the results from SPSS. The number is ...., significant or not. While, conclusion is to explain these numbers based on my theory.

For example, my theory is higher price, less demand. The findings show that my data is significant with p-value .0000. And the conclusion is I explain why higher price draws the demand down based on my test.

Syed Saeed Hey there! I distinguish findings, discussion, and conclusion as follows:

1. Findings is the section where you report on the empirical evidence derived from your research/data.

2. Discussion of findings is the section where you discuss the empirical evidence in relation to your literature, i.e. theory, preconceived hypotheses, concepts, etc. This section is where you incorporate YOUR OWN VOICE. So, you do not merely discuss, you INTERPRET.

3. Conclusion is the section where you restate the purpose and questions of your study, as well as explain how you reached this particular purpose and how you responded to your research questions stated in the beginning of your study.

For Human Geography I would say that findings are the detailed analysis of research data. Conclusion deals more of the meaning of these result (beyond the section of interpretation). Meaning takes a broader view, and often reflects on the own findings against the existing literature.

Findings are elaboration of the data collected. Conclusion is to make the final statement by interpreting the research findings.
