For design and manufacturing, the process engineering engineer is guided by a set of principles, theorems and rules to successfully complete the project. As a result, design is an extremely important step towards the originality and competitiveness of new products. The realization of this product requires tests on materials such as: resistance of materials (mechanical properties), chemical properties such as corrosion resistance, incompatibility with other substances or products, thermal, electrical, luminous properties, hydraulic, etc.

On the other hand, the realization of the new product requires a choice of one or more materials. As a result, the designer has already prepared a list of materials classified according to different criteria with corresponding alternatives.

the typical route is: (1) technological tests, sometimes defined by the industry/company internal standards; (2) general tests according to national/international standards; (3) material tests.
