I tried to find article which shows the highest gain from single feed patch antenna. Usually we know patch antenna typical gain 6-7 dBi. This can increase by ground plane extention, feed method, ground plane modification, patch modification.
Usual method to increase gain by patch antenna is antenna array form or by horn antenna, aperture antenna.
I tried to find a single patch antenna which can give 17-18dBi gain.
Any articale related to this inquiry will help.
I also did not find any articale yet. Even if I get any article which shows reaching 13-15dBi will be helpful.
Never heard of anything like that... A single patch with 17 dB of gain only if you place it on the focus of a parabolic antenna.
you can use periodic structures such as FSS or metasurface as substrate below the patch antenna or as a superstrate above the antenna to increase the gain upto 18 dBi. In that case the spacing between antenna and the surface should be properly maintained.

Could you refer any article that demonstrate such result? What is the mechanism you think will increase by this method for single patch antenna typical gain? Do you refer to have some lens effect or how that extra gain comes from?
its very difficult to get 17db gain by single path antenna by conventional methods.
