beside equations of heat transfer with mechanisms of Conduction, Convention and Radiation, is there a general equation to calculate the total heat transfer?
solidifications in indeed a most important processing route fr metal and alloys. Consider a pure metal. At the fusion temperature

Dear parastu,
I think direct equation is very difficult to find out. But subsidiary equation done by some other to find the solidification time is available. Just try it can work out for you.
1.. Tf , △G=0
△Gf= △Hf- T△Sf
For any temperature other than Tf,
△G= △Sf △T
Where △T is under cooling.
Above equation only can be used.
But for stages like nucleation and growth of kinetic transformation process AVRAMI equation can be used to find out the time for solidification. y=1- e-ktn
Where y is function transformed.
2.Chvorinov’s rule is also valid for determination of solidification time TST in this equation
TST= Cm (V/A)n , where TST= total solidification time, V= volume of casting, A= surface area of casting, n= exponent which is usually taken 2, and Cm is mold constant.
3. Scheil equation( namely scheil-guliver euation) can also be used for solidifaction by
