What is the fundamentals of big data, what is the mathematical foundation of big data, big data analytics. First the disclaimer - I am no expert on Big Data.
Now my take on the developments - As a student, we were taught statistics for association, causation and so on. We were taught sample statistics to understand population characteristics. We were aware of limitations of variables to study and size of sample.
Big data possibly would usher in the death of sample statistics because we can literally be having access to population data on unlimited (nearly) variables.
Thank you for your answer. "Big data possibly would usher in the death of sample statistics" is too easy for the conclusion. Sample statistics is always useful, even in the age of big data. However, the mathematical foundation of big data may be the basis of data science or data analytics.
