I am trying to test something similar for the Spanish case. But I would like to study if teaching affects research quality. There are some papers related to this topic that I think they could be interesting for you. For example, the paper of Braga, Paccagnella and Pellizzari "The academic and labor market returns of university professors" (IZA).

What country and period do you consider?

I would like to use Spanish data, and of course the idea is to buıld a panel data set. We need to get access to the university files and build up several indices for measuring high quality research, and quality of teaching. If you are interested on it, I might help you.
