(i) Room temperature synthesis (Mild route): Zn(NO3)2.6H2O and H2BDC was taken in 1:1 ratio in DMF under constant stirring for ~15 minutes followed by sonication for next 15 minutes for complete dissolution of the starting precursors. Now TEA (tetraethyl amine) was added under agitation and stirring was continued for next 3 hrs in a sealed capped vessel. The white product was collected by centrifugation, washed with DMF and dried under vacuum.
(ii) Solvothermal route: Here Zn(NO3)2.6H2O and H2BDC was taken in 1:1 ratio in DMF and sonication was done for ~15 minutes. Now the clear solution mixture was taken into a teflon lined autoclave, which was then heated under 100 deg C for 24 hrs. Finally it was cooled to room temperature. Solids were collected by centrifugation, washed with DMF and vacuum dried. Good quality single crystals were produced by this way.
