When we write Schrodinger equation for delta function potential well problem the potential is written in the form -(alpha)(delta (x) . I think alpha is a scaling factor and then delta (x) should have the dimension of energy.

In the book of D Griffith , the dimension of delta function is given as 1/length. I can't get the proper understanding . Please explain this.
