I assume you mean "Ambient Intelligence" (ambinent should be a typo, I guess).
Ambient Intelligence is the application of several technologies (including Artificial Intelligence, but also sensor networks, user interfaces, home automation systems, etc) to creating sensible and proactive 'smart' environments.
A good and comprehensive overview is in the attached paper.

In an engineering perspective the so called "ambient intelligence" can be obtained embedding sensors and actuators in an environment to automatically collect and apply knowledge (in this phase artificial intelligence can be crucial) reacting to users, devices and machines.
Ambient intelligence is the ability to use intelligent sensors and actuators to both sense the environment and also to act on it using AI. AI by itself does not provide Ambient Intelligence. In a sense it is smart/proactive AI applied within tthe bounds a specific environment (house flats workspaces etc). it is almost an AI counter part of Pervasive Computing or Ubiquitous computing
This is a good question with lots of interesting paths to follow in looking an answer. In addition to the incisive observations made by others in this thread, a thorough investigation of ambient intelligence can be found in
