Actually I can't understand the differences between data mining and information retriever and if there is any similarity between the two terms .
@ Ansam Nazar Information Retrieval is the process of organizing data, it means you just get the info by writing queries. But Data mining is finding the pattern in data. How the text are similar or different.
Some concise definitions:
Information Retrieval - the ability to query a computer system to return relevant results. The most widely used example is the google web search engine.
Data Mining - the ability to retrieve information from one or more data sources in order to combine it, cluster it, visualize it and discover patterns in the data.
Thanks for your answer Elshrif Elmurngi, can you give me an example of the data mining system? and how we can discover patterns in the data in few words?
