I am trying to compare the species composition between along the altitude, and i have read up some similarity/dissimilarity indices. Because my data also contained abundance information, I thought of using the Bray-Curtis measure across the altitude. I tried more reading about distance measurement and have found some sites interchanging 'Bray-Curtis Similarity Index', 'Sorensen Distance' and 'Bray-Curtis Distance'. these are same thing? please suggest me which is batter?
Bray-Curtis index is based on abundance data and the Sorensen index is based on presence/absence data. Both indices have similarity and dissimilarity (or distance) versions.
