Im doing a Psychometric evaluation on ryff's psychological well-being scale and have read rrls using LISREL. However, im only familiar with SPSS so is there a difference in both? Thank you!
The best software to do both explorative and confirmative factorial analysis is definitely R. However R is very powerful but very complex to use. You can access R via a very friendly graphical interface (Jasp, https://jasp-stats.org)
There are several softwares to conduct CFA, AMOS has a very friendly interface, however is very limited in the estimation options (WLS appears as asymptotic distribution free), also there is MPLUS that has a easy to use syntax and R package "lavaan" is free of charge.
Also is important to note that LISREL is an specific structural equation modelling software. SPSS has a very useful and simple interface, however more specialized softwares tend to be less intuitive to the user and does not have drag and drop menus, as they only work with the script.
Janna, I do understand your situation. R could have parted the clouds most easily for you, but the dark side is that it is very complicated. It is open access statistical analysis platform but may hold your feet a little longer for you to learn. My best bet for u would be LISREL ( despite being that specialized) because at least you seem to be much more familiar with it. Just get to take caution of the faint lines! Thank you.
