I have gone through the literatures for calculating the band gap and I have found some researcher using Kubelka-Munk plot while some researcher using Tauc plot, while looking at the equation both seems similar. Is there any difference between both the equation? Could I use anytime both equation for the calculation of band gap?
If I am correct the Kubelka-Munk method is used in diffuse reflectance spectra, while Tauc corresponds to absorption spectra.

Hi;
Kubelka and Munk's model is based on several unrealistic assumptions in real applications. In particular, it assumes that the material and air have the same refractive index in order to avoid having to consider reflections at the surface of the material. This is clearly visible in the proposed equation which does not depend on any geometrical parameter. The Tauc method is based on the relationship between Eg and the optical absorption coefficient α.
