when we dissolve ZnCl2 into water, a few white precipitations (probably Zn(OH)2 or Zn(OH)Cl) are always formed. However, it doesn't happen to Zn(NO3)2. I would like to ask for opinions what are the differences between nitrate ion and chloride ion in above solutions. How nitrate ion suppresses the hydrolysis of zinc ion?

Thank you very much.
