This hub is a device that let you connect few PC or devices together without know anything about the type of traffic so whatever it comes to the hub it is broadcasting go all devices that connect to it. For the switch is better than hub, as it has some algorithms that helps for choosing the packets ways. So it has less collision however there is a delay is it is thinking I mean process time, for the router, it has routing algorithms that make the work much easier to the packets where to go, it is in the layer 3 of OSI model and it take time for processing, the routers used at the top of the network, I mean when you design a network you let it to the top to connect all your subnetworks and it is the main gate to outside your network.
