What is the correlation between Z-average and % distribution of particle size?

How if the Z-average and % distribution of particle size from PSA is to much different. The spectrum and the highest peak of %distribution is about 10-40 nm and the Z-average is nearly 350nm? so which value can be taken to determine the particle size

Dinia Astira Please post your plots and if using a Malvern equipment, please post the raw data file (.dts, .dls or similar). If you have large contamination in the system then the z-average will reflect this and will be much higher than the main peak. If you convert to volume then any higher peak may disappear but we need to see the plot. From the international (ASTM and ISO) standards then the most robust parameters in DLS are the z-average and polydispersity index (PDI).
