I am working on global soil moisture data with NetCDF or .nc format, please Introduce the best software or programming language for reading and processing this data in Windows operating system.
If you are looking for an open source language, R is a good option to manipulate netcdf. Among other software (not open) I used to work with IDL and Matlab, both do their job well.
I know that at CSIRO developed a netcdf interface for Matlab, but I never used it.
As you know, honestly if you don't know coding by Matlab, GRADS, NCl, and others it wouldn't be easy process. Many scholars have problem with this issue.
Also, if a researcher can understand the codes in different programming languages then she/he should extract the data and also manage them in a continues time series, for applying the requested steps on them. As we know, the CMIP5 models, output of CORDEX, output of different gridded data-sets, and etc. are not a same and similar format, so the ultimate code should work without any limitations and it should be run without any error, so it wouldn't be easy.
In this regard, I want to inform you to apply the following link to use a user-friendly desktop windows tool which can easily extract your desirable data and export them in an excel file.
It would be wonderful if you can get your data in Excel format since every researcher can easily do the related process with an Excel file without any concern!
