There are suggested different methods to assess the age of olive trees. I am interested to know what is the best to be used for the assessment of age of olive trees ( more than 1000 or 2000 years old).
Based on the morphology of native varieties, for millennia tree: the age is estimated, based on two indices: (i) on the perimeter of the trunk neck, and (ii) the dynamic coefficient of annual wood growth. (Specific cambium). Because, the olive trunk neck is eternal. Regression applied on different probabilities, is practical method: morphology, plus statistics. Should read, www/: Determining the Age of Olive Trees through Morphometric Methods.
