Eastern Europe has faced for the last twenty years a lot of political, geopolitical, social, economic changes etc.. But, for sure, it has also challenged a large number of definitions concerning its transition. In your own opinion, what is the best definition for the transition faced by Eastern Europe? Is it a particular transitions? What are its main characteristics?

I would like to perceive this ultimately existential issue by the prism of comparative constitutionalism and broadly comparative constitutional studies. To my knowledge and perception, there is no one best scholarly based definition of Transition, it includes political, social and legal connotations and substance. Thus, this concept by its nature is the multidisciplinary phenomenon. In pure constitutional terms, it is a process between the fragile or hybrid regime to fully consolidative, full-established democracy. In other words, it is the quality of so-called maturity of the whole constitutional systems, includes both deliberative and formal institutional parts. Let me introduce very interesting article which covers the very developments by the constitutional prism in Eastern Europe, as you mentioned in your question. I only hope that these academic articles will help you to find relevant inspiration in order to clarify definitional difficulties.
