Aristotle  law of free-fall states (i) The speed (V) of fall of a body is proportional to the weight (W) i.e. V proportional W (ii) The speed of fall of a body is inversely to the density of the medium it is falling through i.e. V proportional 1 / density. Some authors write V proportional 1 / (resistance offered by medium).  If Aristotle's statement contains “resistance offered by medium” then what does it mean? Of course, it cannot be viscosity because it came quite later.

Aristotle also concluded, vacuum (having zero density or zero resistance offering medium) cannot exist because the velocity of fall in the vacuum will be infinite;  How Aristotle concluded that, because at that time 1/0 is infinite was not known.
