First, there are about a dozen models of climate change and sea level rise to look over. If you have climate, rain, streamflow, well data with history, this is the obvious time to find it, keep it going, upgrade or provide backup when needed.  The equipment of measuring like Hobo transducers is less costly than years ago.  I am sorry I am not more familiar with Bangladesh farmer issues, too much water, too little water, flooding, poor soils, etc., these issues exist in many parts of world.  The tools of weather forecasting is much improved.  Trying to grow in marginal areas is becoming more marginal, necessitating increased use of technology and making responsible decisions on what to plant, when to plant, no till, low till or normal.  When I get back to computer, I will try to send you a few documents.

We conducted similar studies in east Africa and relied on a wide range of survey techniques primarily perception studies as well as participatory tools. These includes identifying specific extreme events and querying on which specific responses were instituted by the local populations. The participatory techniques will provide a community point of view and could further initially help in identifying major concerns before engaging in surveys. Also consider using vulnerability indexes to give a clearer picture(find attached).

it would also be useful to rely on high resolution meteorological data-with some interpolation  and extract certain variability and trend indicators. I would propose computing distinct drought/flood events(consider using the standardized precipitation index-this could have been improved by WMO). Then you can clearly find out the similarity or deviation from the experiences by the local population.

Also remember there  lies a strong relationship between climate change, climate variability and extremes implying that adaptation to change necessarily includes adaptation to variability.

Use of certain hydro logical and/or down scaled climatic models would also be an avenue to add to the above. (find the methodology below in the Philippines).

You make questionnaire with relevant to the object of the study. What data may serve to get your information. Then simply collect the data in farmers field or family. Then  make percentage of the respondent about the parameters of your study about climate change knowledge. Can follow a socio- economic model for analysis of the data.

I think that your question is far outside the subject of the original question the way Mr. Abul has stated it. We should not contaminate this discussion with a completely different one.

I recall that last year we (with you and I involved) had one of these discussions already, starting with a question on the possibility of a "run away" carbon dioxide mode. At a certain stage I asked a few questions, on which no sufficient knowledge had been collected,  that should be answered before this discussion could get any further.

Those questions were never answered, so when this discussion, of which several other versions can be found on the internet, must be continued, it should be there, in a continuation of that previous discussion, and after my questions there have got quantitative answers.

I would recommend indigenous knowledge documentation to be able to collect first hand data for comparism and near accurate if not accurate conclusion. Involve at least three group of farmers of different generations: group one farmers of age 70years and above; group two farmers of 40-69years old and; group three farmers less than 40years old, all with relevant years of farming. The farmers should be drawn from same or close geographical local and if possible mono-crop farmers cultivation same crop. Use interview to get data from the three groups asking the groups exact questions and seek for elaborate responses. Restructure their responses into questions with response options. Administer the questionnaire to thesame groups after some weeks or months. The questionnaire is to quantify their responses and as well authentic the interview responses. Ensure the respondents are real farmers with keen interest in farming.

The trend in their response will reveal how they have adapted and still adapting, and even reveal the direction they moved from and the direction they are heading to.

There will certainly be a difference in the response of the three groups
