What is it that makes you think you can use active control for damage detection? I know there are methods for detecting faults in closed loop systems. But this is not quite the same thing.... or is it? Do you mean using the controller as part of a built in test (BITE) system?
Suppose, that question is about using some embedded exciters or actuators of any kind used in active control of smart structures. This is, so-called, active diagnostics based on parameters identification, namely, non-linear stiffness when the crack or bolted joints losseness appear, This approach is quite promising and can be easily combined with control.
Hi Mahdi , I think your question is incomplete. There is no relation ships between damage detection and active control. Although you can use intelligence algorithms and approaches including fuzzy logics , machine learning ,... to enhance the efficiency of both of them ,Damage detection is subset of signal processing and active control is subset of control ,for more explanation you can read these articles to realize application of control in smart structure
