For high power & fast battery charger, what should be the acceptable charging rate.? I am using buck converter for the charging. actually for 100Ah battery(Li-Ion) if I provide 200 A charging, the temperature rise is beyond acceptable limits. So what care should be taken if I want to keep 2C charging rate & temperature withing limits.
The temperature rise is a feature of the battery - if it can't take a 2C charge rate there is little you can do, except maybe refrigerate the battery to pull the heat out in an effort to prevent the temperature limit being reached? But this also would be hazardous as the safety of the battery depends on local temperatures, not averages, and even with strong cooling there could be hot spots inside it - and once the battery gets shorted you have lost it because it has just become an electrochemical bomb.
It is hard to give you a specific charging rate here because it all depends on the ambient temperature around the battery. In a high-temperature environment, the battery will heat up faster and thus the charging rate should be reduced (for safety reasons) and the visa versa during the cold days.
