I want to understand what is nonlinear tensors and what is the base application of this tensors in engineering like mechanical engineering and metal forming engineering(material engineering)and etc.
Nonlinear tensors can be explained from nonlinear terms which are included in tto strain equations in the consideration of Taylor series expansion. Linear terms plus nonlinear terms all together generates the nonlinear strain equations. Strain tensor is generated from these strai terms.
The tensors are linear and nonlinear. the condition of linear tensors are T(a+b)=T(a)+T(b) and T(Ca)=CT(a). I want to understand what is the condition of nonlinear tensors? and what is the application of tensors in physic and material science?
I know tensors, which are multilinear algebraic objects, and tensor fields, which are fields or such multilinear objects. On the other hand, I don't really understand what you call "nonlinear tensors" (can you maybe give a reference?). Moreover I am not sure of what you mean by your conditions (what are a and be (vectors?)? What is C (a scalar? a matrix?)?
