I am interested to know importance of dew in crop production and productivity in semi arid of India. How it play important role during tress period.
Dew acts as a protective barrier on the leaves and transpiration process in plants which is known as "a necessary evil" will not occur until the dew evaporates from the surface. It allows plant to retain more moisture in its cells, making it more resilient in hot and dry conditions. Dew reduces heat stress in arid and semi arid environment by Acting as direct source of hydration in succulents.
Layer of dew on soil surface allows seeds to germinate, it maintains soil temperature and improves micro-climatemicro-climate and yield upto some extent in arid regions.
Dew can be significant in keeping vegetation alive. It is very important for the desert vegetation.

Dew prevents losses of water by preventing transpiration and evaporation. It helps the plants in avoiding the heat stress & dessication. It also acts as a source of water mainly for arid and semi-arid plants. It improves the microclimate of the crop plants and increases their yields.
