i will like to know about the basis of axisymmetric flow and its signifance in engineering application

According to Richard Fitzpatrick. A flow pattern is said to be axisymmetric flow when the flow is in identical in every plane that passes through straight lines. here the straight line is refereed as symmetric axis. Here the flow is described in terms of cylindrical co-ordinates. examples of asymmetric flow include flow over spheres, bullets and fronts of many objects like torpedoes, missiles.
