This is a question that will differ depending on context - access to books or other reading materials, for one thing. Technology has had a huge impact on reading habits, so it would be difficult to compare across life stages now, vs. across life stages, say, 30 years ago (or even 20). Some studies on reading focus mainly on books, while others have more open criteria (reading text or WhatsApp messages, or Facebook posts, for example). The language you speak and the location you are in can also have impact of the availability of resources. While this isn't quite a straightforward answer, it'll hopefully give you some tools to think about the question from a number of critical perspectives, and maybe narrow it down a bit.
