For the last 6 weeks, we've been talking a lot about the rapid and forced change in accessibility of the educational tools in reaction to pandemic restrictions.
Last week only I was invited to share my opinion on online education at a TV-programme, during two online debates and in a private discussion.
So, I decided to share one of my academic articles (2018) on the concept "Democratisation of education" so that more people can use the term accordingly, understanding what lies within this notion. In a nutshell, equality in learning + transparency + accessibility+ globalisation of education + (learn more in the article) = Democratisation of education.

Interesting thread. I have some works to share here.
From my personal point of view, the democratization of education can be seen in the Open University (OU) learning platform and foundation "Carlos Slim" in Mexico.
According to the OU "statement on equality and diversity" I unquote:
"The OU was founded to open up higher education to all, regardless of background or circumstances."
Well, I tried a couple of their MOOC 8 weeks courses with badges using a stable satellite connection (we do not have internet in Venezuela) and their level is really good. I earned the badges.

Mexico has also some really good eLearning platforms with an impressive level as I said, Foundation Carlos Slim. I earned a technical degree for free with them recently in the area of LMSs.

There are more VLE, but I haven't tried them.
