I am preparing a paper about reader's motivation in choosing "his truth" from mainstream or alternative medias. "Reader's truth" means as information, which he considers like real, primary, objective, important etc. From many points of view I want to set a paper's focus on identification process of reader (recipient).

Does exist any formulated theory about social identification in media - what really affects on readibility, thustworthness and popularity of medias, alternative and tradicional (mainstream)? Thank you!
