What do you think about fistula-preserving surgery in ARM patients being associated with improved bowel control?

Should we preserve fistula?

It makes sense anatomically and embryologically to preserve the fistula, and I do it when I can (in all girls and boys with low malformations). I do not have any evidence however that it achieves better results re bowel control.
