I'm doing a research on urban events and GPS trajectories. I want to know which criteria are the most accurate and most helpful to demonstrate the differences between two trajectories. As I found out there are some criteria such as: Distance (Lp, Dynamic Time Warping and The Longest Common Subsequences), Speed and Curvature. Is there someone who has done some research on this field and has got some result?
What is trajectory? It is polyline (2D or 3D), which consists from sequence of points. Therefore, it is possible to calculate distance between two points and collect statistics {min, mean, median, max}. Distance/difference between two points calculated for two sets constructs signal. There are methods to calculate similarity between two signals (cross-correlation). If two trajectories are equal, their point difference must be constantly equal to 0 (comparison sample). Knowledge about start&end and search of the closest adjacent points can help to define sets.
