In my NetSim 5G simulation, I keep seeing zero throughput, indicating no data transmission. Any suggestions on the factors or settings causing this, like (a) verifying correct gNB and UE configuration, (b) identifying network topology or connectivity errors, etc.? What steps can I take to understand and resolve this?
There can be several reasons why the throughput obtained is zero when running a 5G simulation in NetSim. For example:
- UE is far from the gNB and hence is out of range
- The scheduling algorithm selected allocates resources to other UE's which see a better MCS.
- Slots are Uplink only (0:1) or Downlink only (1:0) and hence traffic is not going through in the other direction.
The reason can be analyzed using logs such as the radio measurements and resource allocation logs.
You may not have set up traffic in DL or UL for that UE. To debug, use the packet trace and the radio measurements log. The packet trace records packet flow, and the radio measurements file captures radio parameters.
