Using solvent- antisolvent method , same sheet of synthesized membrane, same Temp, TMP, humidity, thickness, and same casting solution chemical- physical properties.
I assume you are referring to the new membrane flux. The flux is a function of mol. wt. cut off of the membrane, so I'd see which of the parameters during synthesis affect the MWCO and address it. But, what is the deviation % from run to run for each membrane?
The pore size distribution of membrane is in range of 10-30 nanometer and its porosity is 78% . The pure water flux from different membrane samples
vary between 100 (L/ m2h) to 350 (L/m2.h).
I can not understand why membrane selected form one sheet , even dose not have same flux. All the membrane sheet were prepared by same casting solution, same T and Humidity, same air exposure time, and water bath time!
Did you compact the membrane with pure water before actual flux measurement? During flux measurement under certain TMP, the characteristics of the membrane will change. This leads to difference in water flux. So, you should compact the membrane first under TMP higher than actual operating pressure until a constant flux is achieved. Then measure the water flux at required TMP. I think this may give you better reproducible results.
Please check the phase inversion kinetic, different rate of coagulation will significantly affect the properties of membrane i.e. the change from delayed demixing regime to instantaneous demixing.
