I'm working with two unknown polymer samples.

The temperature program I used was this:

-Heat up from 25ºC to 350º at 10ºC/min

-Hold the sample at 350ºC for 5 minutes

-Cool from 350º to 25ºC at 10ºC/min

-Hold the sample at 25ºC for 5 minutes

-Heat up from 25ºC to 350ºC at 10ºC/min

The two samples suppose to be similar.

In both samples there were a melting double peak between 50-130ºC and also a crystallization double peak between 80-40ºC

But, in the first sample there is a endothermic peak. I think it could correspond to a decomposition reaction, but I'm not sure.

I'd like to have a possible explanation for the double peak phenomenon, maybe if they could be two different polymers with similar melting points.
