This is my tobacco plants under different nitrogen levels application. 2 days earlier i irrigate my field and after 2 days is almost wilting and close to die. Please suggest some operation to recover my plants.
the crop was in very good condition before irrigation and after irrigation plants suddenly change its shape and look like they are dying on the 2nd day i am very much concern about my plants and their survival. I have sent plant samples to the pathology section at institute and soil sample to soil laboratory but their results are awaiting. please give some suggestion what should i do earliest .
as per my experience sudden wilting occurs in case of toxicity due to acidic water, your applied nitrogenous compound might react with acidic water and may be it's producing Ammonia.
Did u test pH of water by which u irrigated your land?
The water used for irrigation is from canal and their no such issue so for i have witnessed before but this is a good suggestion and i will investigate it out.
Since they were looking good before the spray we rule out fungal or nematode infection since they come gradually they don't attack suddenly. There is high probability that the water used in irrigation was having some chemical that caused the sudden wilting. The probability of water being saline could be holding truth but was it the same water you have been using to irrigate the plants from the beginning? If so then you need to take the water for analysis to know whether there was contamination.
