1- There are a lot of efforts trying to integrate SDN into IoT. But I think their motivations is not convincing, strong and concrete enough in this regard and what they plan to do with SDN in IoT can be done using cloud computing.
Any thoughts/ideas will be highly appreciated
We have just advertised 2 PhD topics loosely related to SDN & IoT. So we will be in a better position in a few months time.
I believe traffic optimation and control can be better exercised using SDN techniques that 'just' cloud.

I have gone through too many literature already, but seriously I am not convinced with their motivations..!!
"The software defined systems is a new paradigm that appeared recently to hide all complexity in traditional system architecture by abstracting all the controls and management operations from the underling devices (things in the IoT) and setting them inside a middleware layer, a software layer"
The above is part of their abstract.....
"The rapid growth of the IoT produces a lot of data and information collected by the huge number of objects connected to it. Storing, managing, controlling and securing such big data are considered critical issues if we want to connect everything to the Internet in a useful and practical manner. Moreover, in real time transaction or any simple work there is a need to connect these objects with each"
Or the above is part of their reasoning/motivation written in their Introduction section
All what they have mentioned about the middleware, or hiding the complexity of the underlying devices and so on, can be answered by the power of cloud computing rather than just simply bringing SDN into action..!! there are many works with more/less the same motivations, but they used cloud computing instead
