I am doing MIC with plant extracts against s. mutans. My control well which had the medium and the inoculum also remianed blue in colour after the addition of the resazurin dye and inclubated for 3 hours. Kindly explain what could be error?
From my knowledge, after the addition of resazurin solution and incubation, if the color is blue it means there is no growth of bacteria and if the color is pink it means there is a bacterial growth.
If the control well with inoculum and medium does not change colour, it means that the inoculum has no live/actively replicating microbes &/or that the medium does not favour microbial growth.
A microbiology techie or a faculty staff would be able to sort this out for you to continue your work. Best wishes. (KRS)
