Hi there, I think you should read some books by Steven Pinker such as Learnability and Cognition or The Stuff of Thought: Language as a Window Into Human Nature. He provides a good insight in the field of psycholinguistics. Take care
Hi, there are several books you could read as an introduction to Psycholinguistics. I found "Language in Mind. An introduction to Psycholinguistics" by Julie Sedivy to be well written while providing an adequate choice of topics to give a general overview of various aspects of Psycholinguistics. A recommendation of the Department of Linguistics Graz is "Introducing Psycholinguistics" by Warren Paul. However, any profoundly researched introduction will provide literature recommendations considering the topics covered. These and Mr Insuasty's suggestions may serve as starting points for your psycholinguistic endeavours.
Considering metalinguistic awareness, it depends on what category you are interested in. One paper that comes to my mind is "Conceptualizing metalinguistic understanding in writing" by Myhill and Jones (2015).
There many good books on psycholinguistics which are available for reference. Perhaps in you could zoom in more on the context of your reading or reserach interest then you would find that each book presents various essential topics in varying degrees of depth. For the topic of metalinguistics awareness, please refer to books written by Karen Roehr-Breckin (2018), J.Bowie (1984), David Yadin (1986), Marcy Zipke (2021)-quite recent, just to name a few. Good luck.
